23 September
Meanwhile we are already at home for 3 weeks, time flies. And it was also very busy.
Melissa had to start at her new school immediately and adjusted very well. So that worked out quite well and was a relief for us. All of us had to go to the emirates clinic for general checkup and experience sharing with Dr. Kay Deeming. She found that Quint looked very well and it was a very nice consultation. After this we went by the baby Clinic where everyone was also amazed and happy to see Quint.
Around 12 September we had a problem with the air conditioning in our bedroom and we called maintenance and they would come as quickly as possible. But since Quint was also sleeping in our room we decided to put him for the first time in his own room. For me it was a big adjustment and I had to get used to the fact that only the baby monitor was next to me but this was a good time to try it. Quint on the other hand slept quickly and had no problems in adjusting to his new surroundings. I was very proud of him because since birth he had never slept alone. His bed always stood close to us, at home, at the grand parents, in the hospital.
23 September I had to take Quint to the medical clinic for the monthly blood testing. We had to wait a while before we could go in and when this happened we had to wait while they prepared all the tubes. Unfortunately the blood giving did not go well. After trying to find the vane for a couple of tries I told them to stop. I will return tomorrow to try again. The nurse agreed and found this also a good idea. The next day Oscar was off as well so he came along. Everything was ready when we arrived and this time the nurse found the vane in 1 try. She told us that in the future daddy should also come because he can hold Quint better than I. Also we agreed that next time we would call in advance so they have everything setup to speed things up. This is very good because of the prograft which he can only take after the blood giving. It is very nice that they are so helpful.
An other highlight was that Quint went swimming for the first time and he loved it. This was at the Habtoor resort. Melissa enjoyed herself also here. expecially going from the slide.

To Dusseldorf and back home to dubai with the family Finally after 1 year we return to Dubai as a family. A
very good feeling but at the same time strange. For the grandparents it will be strange to have the house all to themselves again because Melissa and Quint made it their house with al their toys. Melissa wil miss her friend Luna and she will miss Melissa.
For 1 year we had a lot of fun with luna and her parents Linda and Robin. We did so much together for the children, but now it is time to go home, and we are excited for that also. The suitcases were too full but luckily we were able to take everything with us. After saying our goodbye's it was time. Granddad drove us to Dusseldorf. We had the night flight back and the children slept well on board. We arrived at 0500 in dubai and when we arrived home there were flowers and a bottle of wine with a welcome home note from our friends Family Hagelen and de Wijs. A lovely home coming. The day progressed easily and all of us were tired. But.we were at home and we can begin our live as a family again.that is a very rich feeling. Now it is time to settle down and enjoy the family time and hope that everything will continue to go well with Quint's health.
Tuesday 1 September
At 10:30 we had an appointment in the AMC with dr. Tabbers. The last time she saw Quint was about 1 year
ago. And we wanted to show how Quint has progressed and to keep her also informed. Also we passed by the dietician. Dr. Tabbers was very enthousiastic about Quints development and we had a very nice meeting. The dietician also took her time to discuss Quints diet possibilities in relation to his allergies. We want to keep everyone informed. Al in al a very busy morning. After which we returned to The Hague and continue our preparation for our return to Dubai.
